Building a Coach-Ready One-Page Resume for Fall Recruiting

October 18, 2026

College coaches sort through hundreds of emails every week. Here is how Texas junior golfers can build a clean, accurate stat sheet that gets opened and evaluated.

College coaches do not have time to search the internet for your tournament records, graduation year, or contact information. During the fall season, college programs are competing, traveling, and reviewing incoming recruiting emails between rounds. If your information is disorganized, vague, or buried in attachments, coaches move on to the next profile.

A single-page player resume paired with a concise email gives coaches everything they need in thirty seconds. Here is how to structure your profile, select the right metrics, and put it to work this week.

The Core Elements of a College Golf Resume

A recruiting profile must be factual, easy to read on a phone, and free of unnecessary fluff. Keep your layout clean and divide it into four clear sections:

1. Player Vitals and Contact Information

Place these details at the very top of your document:

  • Full name, graduation year, and hometown
  • High school and current GPA (plus test scores if available)
  • NCAA Eligibility Center ID number
  • Primary contact email and phone number
  • Swing instructor and high school coach contact info
  • Swing video link (YouTube or Vimeo unlisted link)

2. Verified Tournament History

Do not list practice rounds or local club casual scores. Coaches care about competitive rounds played under tournament pressure from standard championship yardages. Group your events by tour and include:

  • Tournament name, host course, and date
  • Specific yardage played
  • Round-by-round scores and final tournament total
  • Field finish and field size

Ensure your events reflect recognized regional and national circuits such as TJGT, LJT, NTPGA, AJGA, or UIL state and regional qualifiers.

3. Key Performance Metrics

Coaches evaluate scoring averages relative to course rating and yardage. Avoid cherry-picking only your best statistical categories. Standard data points college coaches track include:

  • Tournament scoring average over the past 6 to 12 months
  • Fairways in regulation (FIR percentage)
  • Greens in regulation (GIR per round)
  • Putts per round and putts per GIR
  • Up-and-down / scrambling conversion rate

If you track stats through dedicated tracking software, export summary metrics rather than sending dozens of raw data pages.

4. Upcoming Fall and Winter Schedule

Coaches plan their travel schedules weeks in advance. Listing your confirmed upcoming tournaments allows coaches to cross-reference their recruiting calendars and track your live scoring.

If you are competing in late-October events, list the exact tournament name and venue:

  • TJGT Fall Series - Austin at Grey Rock Golf Club
  • North Texas Fall Classic at The Golf Club of Dallas
  • HJGT Texas Fall Open in Houston
  • Major late-fall invitationals

Division Benchmarks and Realistic Targeting

When building your target school list, match your competitive resume against realistic division baselines. While recruiting standards shift based on roster needs, general principles apply across college golf:

  • Division I Programs: Look for players consistently breaking par on courses measured at 7,000+ yards for men and 6,100+ yards for women. National rankings and top-10 finishes in high-caliber multi-day fields are essential.
  • Division II Programs: Look for players shooting consistently in the low-to-mid 70s on championship setups. Solid short-game conversion rates, high academic standing, and steady tournament differentials carry significant weight.

Target a balanced list of 15 to 25 schools across divisions where your verified scores match the middle of their current traveling roster.

How to Deliver Your Resume

Never send your resume as a heavy, unformatted document. Follow these delivery guidelines:

  • Convert your document to a clean PDF labeled with your name and graduation year (e.g., `Alex_Smith_2028_Golf_Resume.pdf`).
  • Keep the email body short: introduce yourself, state your graduation year and GPA, highlight your most recent multi-day tournament result, and paste your upcoming schedule directly in the text.
  • Provide a direct link to your swing video and attach the PDF.

Concrete Next Step This Week

Draft your one-page PDF resume using the four-section framework above. Verify that your NCAA ID, GPA, and upcoming tournament dates are accurate, then send a brief update email with the attached PDF to five college coaches on your target list before Friday.

Track your own numbers

Log every round hole by hole, import verified tour scores automatically, and send coaches a stat page that stays current.
